TONI MOÑIZ

Director and flamenco teacher

He was born in Barcelona in 1976. and he starts his dance classes with Ana Márquez at the ACA in l’Hospitalet. He also studied at José de la Vega’s school where he has been teaching for several years. He has also taken courses with Antonio Canales, Merche Esmeralda, Manolo Marín, Mario Maya, Matilde Coral, Antonio El Toleo and Manuel Núñez.

He has worked in the tablaos El Carmen, Los Tarantos, and El Palacio del Flamenco, in Barcelona.
In 1992 he participated in the opening ceremony of the Barcelona Olympic Games. with the company of Cristina Hoyos. In 1997 he joined the company of Cristina Hoyos in the show “Arsa y Toma”.

He is winner of the Carmen Amaya Award of Honor at the ”Certamen de Baile Jóvenes Valores ciudad de l’Hospitalet”
as well as the awards for Alegrías, Farruca and Tangos.
He has performed at the International Flamenco Congress in 1994 and 2000 in the Memorial de Cante Flamenco Antonio Mairena in 2002 and 2007 in the Guitar Contest, in the Flamenco Dance Exhibition of l’Hospitalet.

He has participated in the festivals La Pedrera de Nit, during the years 2000 and 2001 in the recording of the video clip ‘El Patio” by Nacho Cano, in the program “Ballarins” of Channel 33, and in several television recordings with the Ballet de José de la Vega.

In 2003 he participated in the filming of the movie ‘Golpe Maestro” (Art Heist).

In 2006 he accompanied “Ginesa Ortega” performing all over Spain, Holland and Casablanca.
He has collaborated with the group “Ojos de Brujo”, performing throughout Spain and Europe. He has participated in the recording of the DVD “Girando Bari”. on the album “Techarl” and on his latest album and DVD “Techarl live”. with which they have won the Grammy for best flamenco group 2007.
He is currently choreographing and arranging music for the show “Rambla Abajo” of the group “Son de Tacón”.
